  • Fish, Fish, Fish!

On Monday, December 28th Hampstead Academy picked up about 125 Eastern Brook Trout eggs at the Powder Mill fish hatchery in New Durham NH. The trout are now be in the care of our 3rd and 4th grade students and their teacher, Bonnie Roberts. The children have be recording the growth of the fish, water temperature, and water purity as they bring the trout to a size where they can be safely released locally in the Spring. They will also learn a great deal about how important it is to protect our watersheds to insure that future generations will enjoy their bounty. This is our second year in this cooperative project between New Hampshire's Fish and Game Aquatic Resources division, Trout Unlimited, and Hampstead Academy which is licensed to raise and release the fish. The project will end with the safe release of the fish in late May.
